Contact Angle and AFM Analysis of Glassy Carbon Coatings after an Extended Stay on the International Space Station (ISS)

نویسندگان

چکیده

The proposed work presents the results for contact angle and atomic force microscopy (AFM), which are applied to characterize surface of two types samples, “reference” sample “space” sample, both made same material – graphite covered with glassy carbon coating, but stored 28 months in different environments (conditions). One was mounted outside International Space Station, other on Earth.
technique measure wetting samples (hydrophilicity-hydrophobicity) is using water droplets. Values energy area surfaces were determined by measuring substances formamide diiodomethane. Atomic (AFM) glass morphology coatings.

A microbial survey of the International Space Station (ISS)

Background Modern advances in sequencing technology have enabled the census of microbial members of many natural ecosystems. Recently, attention is increasingly being paid to the microbial residents of human-made, built ecosystems, both private (homes) and public (subways, office buildings, and hospitals). Here, we report results of the characterization of the microbial ecology of a singular bu...

Space Environment Data Acquisition with the Kibo Exposed Facility on the International Space Station (ISS)

The Space Environment Data Acquisition equipment (SEDA), which was mounted on the Exposed Facility (EF) of the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM, also known as “Kibo”) on the International Space Station (ISS), was developed to measure the space environment along the orbit of the ISS. This payload module, called the SEDA-Attached Payload (AP), began to measure the space environment in August 2009....

Growth of 48 built environment bacterial isolates on board the International Space Station (ISS).

Background. While significant attention has been paid to the potential risk of pathogenic microbes aboard crewed spacecraft, the non-pathogenic microbes in these habitats have received less consideration. Preliminary work has demonstrated that the interior of the International Space Station (ISS) has a microbial community resembling those of built environments on Earth. Here we report the resul...
